How much does a Arthrogram of the shoulder cost?
I have already had an MRI and immediately my doctor wants me to have this oral exam done.
Answer: I work in a free standing imaging center, at home on my lunch break. I cannot remember how much arthrograms run, because we don't do them often anymore. However, I enjoy some ideas.
Of course, you need a doctor's lay down to get any imaging study, including an arthrogram. But, even if your doctor gives you an charge written on General Hospital's form, you can get your procedure done at Mercy Hospital.
My best advice would be to look surrounded by your local yellow pages, and label calls for estimated costs at facilities surrounded by your area. Prices will vary depending on which state you are surrounded by.in fact, the prices can come and go quite a bit between facilities contained by the same area. I work within a free standing imaging center, and we charge about half what the hospital (located within the same town!) charges. Look in the pale pages under "x-ray" or "physicians - radiologist" and start calling services. If you call the imaging department of a hospital, make sure you go and get both the technical fee (for the cost of the procedure) and the professional payment (for the radiologist's reading). Most free standing imaging centers combine those costs into one fee. Other things to think around..find out if the facility offers a cash discount for uninsured patients. Also, find out if they can be paid a payment plan for you, if you cannot come up with adjectives of the money at the time of your procedure. We ask for 25% down at time of service, and then we do a payment plan, map out monthly payments for the balance. Sometimes the monthly payment is more or less low..$50 even. A little bit of research can save you some money!
