Im in a special group at my school, for medics within training, and next week were practicing making cast. I usually know a lot about what be doing ahead of time, but I dont know anyone who has ever broken a bone. We have to product casts on each other for our final project, one short leg and one short arm are what Im doing. Can anyone pretty much meander me through what I will have to do?

The key to cast is 1. to pad the limb in good health so the cast does not rub, 2. not to put it on too tight (1 finger should fit between cast & skin), 3. to produce the overlaps of casting material just about 1/3 or the previous wrap. 4. Know the land marks that dictate where on earth you STOP casting (no cast bits and pieces beyond that area) (like the fibula head and the metatarsal area on leg ). 5. finish edges of kind with stockinette so there are no rough edges to hurt tolerant.

How to do it is really something you need to see done.
