How to avoid nausea near anguish meds?
I take oxycodone 10mg ir caps and everytime I thieve them I get very sick. It's not only just the oxycodone, any pain med I take I achieve nauseated and sometimes throw up. I have tried eating a teatime with my meds but that doesn't work either...any philosophy on how I can get the nausea down?
Answer: The best thing that you can do do avoid any genus of stomach upset with medications it to NOT hold them on an empty stomach which might mean intake when you take meds or waiting an hour than taking medications or taking something close to priloce so that your stomach doesn't build up the acid. I have to help yourself to it daily to prevent stomach upset and heart burn because I take so masses meds. But you should ask either your doctor or pharmacist what to take next to your med so that this doesn't happen.
You may discuss this with your doctor and consent to him/her know what's happening. Doc can prescribe you some phenergan or other anti-nausea meds temporarily, until your system becomes accustomed to the oxycodone. If you've be taking the oxycodone for some time, and are still having nausea, ask the doctor to change your dull pain meds.
Will this be 'long term' medication? I was started on Fentanyl Patches and spent three days vomiting. I hold the record for answering the cell phone while throwing up into the kitchen sink, then the hall channel and almost hit the dog on top! On day four my Mother sent me to the Doc as she was concerned I would be dried up and on arrival he gave me an injection. That was it, no problem after that. I will be on the patch for the next 10-15 years, so had to attain the problem resolved. Injection over pills, as I would not be able to keep the pills down. You might want to try taking the pills in the past you go to bed, as lying down is better than standing up. Best of Luck
