I hold to take blood work done.. ehhh..?
I have to get blood work done to check for hypothyroidism, anemia, and mono. I could attention less about needles, but I HATE PAIN. I know family say "oh its just a pinch", but I can't stand pinches! Any manner of pain. How can I prepare myself for this? I know it isn't really a big deal but I take nervous very, VERY well. the color drains from my face, my palms start sweating, and I feel close to I'm gonna cry. It's horrible! Can I take something before I move about? Or numb the area somehow? Thanks..
Answer: The best thing to do is to look away and distract your brain, be that near math, listing of characters from your favorite TV show or something akin to this. If there is a poster on the wall, look at the poster and try and record the things off that you can see on it, in your chief.
Can you die by adjectives your capillary?
I am one of the people that draw blood from patients such as yourself everyday. All I can tell you is that if you relax, it hurts smaller amount. Just relax and let it happen, it is just one poke and it will be done in a matter of second. Seriously. And remember to breathe very deep and slow, this help take away the urge to faint or touch funny. It will be ok in the end, but don't bear anything before hand because this could severely affect the exam. Any type of pain killer or substance can affect the check and if you took it and didn't tell somebody you could end up on medication that hurts you instead of help you. Just stay calm and let it take place, if you relax you won't even believe its over so fast! They will clean bad anything you use to numb the area first with for a while alcohol swab, and you really shouldn't have any meds/alcohol in your blood stream.
It is complicated to watch if you don't like blood. Tell them to be meek with you because you're very over-sensitive. They might use a smaller needle, which will hurt less.
Really the best guidance is don't watch, and just tough it out. It's over early, and there's not much you can do about it.
Well...the more nervous you are the more it will hurt. When I enjoy blood drawn I don't even feel the pinch. I used to always HAVE to keep watch on the needle go contained by or i would freak out. Now I watch until right before it go in then close my eyes or look away lol. I wouldn't transport anything without asking the dr first, I don't know if it could interfere with the testing. The more you just deal next to it, the easier it will get. I used to hyperventilate, now I could sleep through it. But that took practice. a friend's mom is a phlebotimist so she in recent times "practiced" on me until I was used to it.
They bug me too. Look the other way and trust the nurse. What you describe is close fainting. I fainted once when they took my blood. Just look the other bearing and take deep breaths. Also, convey the nurse you are scared. They will talk to you and peaceful you down. Good luck.
They can numb the area BUT it does include more than one poke to numb it so it's really not that beneficial.
I suggest to think in the order of this... The 'pinch' only lasts split second.
