The bifocals didn't really assistance out that much at all, so she said I would be able to jump without them... now I'm lately confused about what purpose these glasses are going to serve and when I'm going to be need them.

Astigmatism is a very, very commont condition (nothing to verbs about the least bit.) Your cornea is the outer deposit of clear membraine on the front of the eye that covers the iris (the colored part) and the pupil ( the black circle, or hole leading to the ritina). It's where you would place a contact lens. When you own astigmatism, your cornea is not perfectly round, but is a bit 'football shaped' like the doctor said. This cause distorted vision. Not near-sited, or far-sighted, per say, but similes may appear elongated and misshapen. Depending on the severity of the astigmatism, it can cause varying degrees of hallucination distortion.
When you mention that you have trouble seeing at night, do you imply WITH the glasses? If so, you definitely call for to go back and complain. Seeing your best driving at darkness is a higher priority than reading or computer use! Go back and win an explanation. It also sounds like a somewhat outdated method the way you describe how they " put bifocal lenses over the glasses they made" if I'm understanding that right. Be assertive. I can narrate you a little about how to look at your written prescription and see where on earth it shows where/if you have astigmatism.
Here is a prescription for someone who needs reading glasses:
+1.75
+2.25 The plus marks indicate they have need of magnification for close up.
Here is a prescription for a person who needs distance/everyday goggles:
-2.75
-3.25
The minus signs indicate minification, or strength for distance.
Also, the right prescription always goes above the departed.
So you can tell by these two prescriptions that the patients need stronger prescriptions surrounded by their left eyes, as the numbers are larger.
That's the reason why various "drug store' glasses don't work for many ethnic group. We rarely have both eyes need the same prescription

+2.00 This is MY prescription, and it finances I can't see
a damn thing because i found my glasses on the floor crushed this morning. I am amazingly near-sighted with a good dose of astigmatism surrounded by each eye, and i'm presbiopic (old-past 44 and needing bifocals, shown by that extra +2.00 at the bottom to magnify my close-up, as the lens of the eye harden as we get older and quits adjust to near and far on it's own.)
