I enjoy a burn on my foot that won't treat..?
I have a burn on the top of my foot that won't heal. I get it when I climbed a rope, and on the way down, didn't have my foot properly set. It burned the top of my foot. Now, I've got a gash about the size of a nickel that won't close up and treat. I've tried neosporin, polysporin, gauze bandages, everything, but it won't work. Also, I'm starting to get some reddishness around it and some pain when I stand on it. Should I go to the hospital without beating about the bush, or is there a way to treat it myself?
Answer: Healing of a skin wound depends on copious factors; how extensive (how deep, how lots of the 6 skin layers are involved), your age, if you're a smoker, healthy, hold other medical conditions etc.. You're describing a rather small abbrasion from a robe and it should not cause an injury beyond a 2nd amount (it's painfull, but usually not very serious). If the area surrounding the wound is not 'warm', 'hot' to touch, appears redish or yellow/white (dead white blood cells), itchy or extremely painfull, it's NOT infected.
You haven't specified how long ago this happen or how long you've been waiting for it too heal, but I presume that it appears to you to be taking longer to treat this time around.
Diabetis Mellitus is one of the most common reasons why wounds don't heel (and the wound may be not as painfull as it looks, because of degenerative effrontery damage). I'd get my blood glucose levels checked at a regular form care provider, a walk surrounded by clinic or fast track, and if you do have problems beside DM, they can give you special instructions on how to take special aid of the wound.

It sounds infected, since youve had it for sometime, it will not heal or close and its red next to pain.I dont think this is a emergency, but it is highly serious from what youve said.
You need to see a doctor in the subsequent few days, if it gets any worse go to a hospital.
If that infection is staph or something similar and it hits your blood stream you might stipulation to be rushed to an emergency room.
I know a guy whos mother died from a staph infection, she didnt think much of it until it hit her blood stream, they life flighted her but she died as the infection have spread too far.

its infected. Call your doc and ask for some Silver Nitrate. It is the best infection murderer I know of for burns.It is infected, and possibly a shign that you might be diabetic.
