You didn't say what kind of brace you're wearing. My individual experience was with Milwaukee braces. Some of what I influence will apply to TSLO and other braces. (The Boston brace is a type of TSLO.)

o Wear your brace as directed. It is far better to wear it for a couple of years trying to keep your back from getting worse than to spend the rest of your energy with back problems.

o Vent to friends. If you're frustrated, its apposite (actually, its necessary) to get it out of your system.

o Keep your brace clean. I used alchohol on adjectives parts that come in contact with me or my clothes. I also used toddler powder on the pads that touched my skin because I would sweat into them.

o Wear a t-shirt between you and your brace. Watch out for wrinkles in the shirt because it will hurt your skin after awhile.

o If you've grown out of your brace, be sure to tolerate your parents and doctor know so you can get a new one i.e. sized correctly.

o The Milwaukee brace has screws that hold its bar together. The heads of the screws rub and soon wear holes into the shirts. I wrapped Dr. Sholes Moleskin around the bar and over the screw heads to keep this from arranged. The screws eventually wore through the Moleskin so that had to be replaced also, but it be better than my shirts.

o Your brace will be hard on your self-esteem. Try to have a special outfit, style, accessories, etc. to balance things rather. TSLO braces are *relatively* easy to hide, much easier than Milwaukee braces. Both kind need clothes that will look as good as possible.

I'm sure I've forgotten some things. Please email if you hold other questions.

Major Headache?

I had to wear a brace when I broke my spine when I be 19 and I borrowed clothes from a friend who was a size larger, made sure I went to the toilet regular (cos it pressed on my bladder adjectives the time) & just tried to carry on similar to normal.

Is there any specific problems near the brace? It will be worth it so stick with it.

I do remember feeling really feed up sometimes but a new haircut or facial made me perk up a bit!
