If strident chords are severed by severe throat laceration, is near any treatment?
is there any way to regain your voice or if they be partially cut in some approach is there any way that they could make well?
Also while I'm at it, does anyone know the names of any literature on throat/neck injuries that would deal near these topics; specifically the treatment of them and aftercare?
Answer: They can heal if its minor (surgery on vocal cords in fact lasers them or cuts into them and they heal) but I don't know if it's more severe. Is there damage to any of the surrounding muscles? There are devices that can provide artificial voice by providing artificial pulsation and you simply provide airstream and articulation. Or there is esophageal speech techniques (like burping) which can produce speech sounds.
I haven't be able to find it myself but my Clinical Tutor recommends Mathieson, L. (2001) The Voice and Its Disorders if you can find it surrounded by a library
