PLEASE HELP! I rEALLY NEED ANSWERS!?

At 45 degree, bracing probably won't do much good and you'll most likely own surgery at some point in your life. I be around your curve sized and was able to put it sour until I was 39. Curves over 30 degrees tend to save increasing even when the patient is done growing.

If your back isn't hurting you, that's correct. Keep ahead of the problem by keeping your core muscles strong. Swimming, yoga, pilates are all good exercises. If your stern starts hurting, you may be able to put off surgery by seeing a misery management specialist. Pain meds, used properly, are very upright at reducing the pain. (I came to a point where on earth the pain meds weren't doing the job and I know it was time to be fused.)

Just know that chiropractors, message therapists, acupuncturists, etc., can't fix idiopathic scoliosis. These nation adjust the soft, connective tissues and that may (or may not, you can't tell ahead of time) make you be aware of better, but remember, idiopathic scoliosis is not a connective tissue disease. Your spine is growing curved.

My leg have be butchery me...drs are taking forever?

45 Degrees is a rather large curve. My daughter be recently diagnosed and we are seeking the treatment of an osteopathic doctor and she is using the spinecor brace, which is the only flexible brace on the bazaar right now. It would allow you to continue dance. I have included a very informative pattern page on osteopathy. I believe this Dr. is in Singapore, but it will give you really upright insight as to what its all about. Good luck!!

SEVERE shin stomach-ache?

In 1984, I be diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12 during one of those junior lofty screenings. I was very terrified at first, but got in near a good group of doctors at Shriner's Hospital and they put me so at ease. I wore a Wilmington brace from below my arms to just over my hips for 10 mo., then have surgery shortly before I turned 14 (1985). They prefer that you have have your period for two years before they do it to tolerate you grow as much as you can, but my curve was getting too severe. My top curve was fused using stainless Steel Harrington rods and bone chips from my hip. I have to go back into a brace roughly speaking a year after my surgery for 10 mos. because my bottom curve was not completely stabilized.

The braces...oh, how figure flattering they are, not! You'll hold to adjust your size. Some braces are larger than others, some more visible than others. Being where mine be, axilla to hips, it wasn't very visible. I wore loose flowy tops contained by the warm weather, and sweat shirts and sweaters in the cool. Check out plus size or parenthood clothes). Pants and shorts had to go up a size or you can uses one of those expand a waist button extender things. The first few night, it's hard too fall asleep within a brace. But some days if I'm feeling a little achy, I miss it. You could be stagnant and let the brace do the support work your muscles usually do.

If you need surgery...There are risks near every surgery, even minor procedures (I'm an OR nurse now). You and your folks will have to make an informed ruling about surgery. If your curve is severe and you are not corrected it can affect your ability to breath or pass a pregnancy.

Someone with more recent experience might be better to ask about the physical treatment. I never did PT when I was wearing the braces. The only PT I did after surgery be minimal, basically just making sure you be able to walk steady...but this be 1985 when they used to keep you on bed rest for a week and then put you within a body cast...we don't do that any more.

I'm as normally functioning as anyone (are any of us really "normal"?). I never get off schedule beside school. Graduated college at 20 and have be an OR nurse for 16 years, one of the most physically demanding areas of nursing (lots of lifting and lots of standing in one place for long periods). I've had 2 children lacking difficulty (didn't even use an epidural). I love to travel (I don't set off metal detectors), yoga (though the fusion prevents some positions), and SCUBA dive. I can pretty much do anything I want...but don't tell my husband I use the scoliosis to acquire out of vacuuming :) My bottom curve aches now and after, I'm supposed to take 1-2 Alleve at bed time, but us nurses are awful patients, so I don't do it regularly.

Are you being treated at a Shriner's Hospital/Clinic? Absolutely the best place for scoliosis patients lower than 21! If you are, ask the docs/nurses if they can arrange for you to visit/talk with other patients or people who will be involved within your care. Other places may do this too, but I think Shriner's go above and beyond for their kids.
