i've had an inguinal hernia for 3 years now, i'm 16, and it have not presented any problems like incarceration, i've done a lot of sports contained by 3 years, and it has had no anguish whatsoever. my doctor of 10 years has not detected it, and i've had no problems beside it. would it present problems in the long run? is surgery necessary?

I am in a minute recovering from bilateral inguinal hernias. I just had surgery a week ago. First, i'm not sure how you know you own them if they never bother you. But assuming this is what you have, eventually you will need surgery because eventually perforation of the ligament will grow and any the regularity of the protrusion will increase or it will slip through to the point of incarceration. Not all elect for surgery when they are rarely a problem. Just preserve track of the signs that are indicative of serious health problems so that you can get support quickly if they ever arise.
