Injuries from Track...?
I've just joined a giant school track team and I want to swot up some methods for any prevention of injuries.
In my first week, I was able to sprint roughly speaking 100% of my ability. But I eventually started to have sore calf muscles. Later they become shin splints. That's when I gradually lost my speed. Once the shin splints went away (the 2nd season--spring), the soreness comes and go, but I still feel like I'm running closely slower than I used to...I try to sprint at 100% speed, but I just can't go any further than at the most 80%. Any guesses as to why this happen? And any stretches, etc to prevent any further injuries?
Answer: i know how you feel.
stretch your calves alot and do some strengthening exercises to prevent further shin splints.
