Injury from split attempt, Help?

I am 16 and currently taking martial arts and my teacher suggests that i should practice doing splits. About a month ago, i was practicing it and i be about 10 inches off the ground and i pushed down too hard and i feel some pain on the right side of my crotch. After standing up, i feel some slight pain as i bearing around while moving the joint. The pain went away after 2 days and i continued practicing the split 3 weeks after that. I usually go as low as i could and hold for 2 mins then come back up and after 4 or 5 repeats, i feel some pain again in my right crotch as i moved the joint after. So i consent to it rest for another two and a half weeks. On today, after 7 or 8 repeats, i felt some very slight dull pain in my right crotch again, it was nothing foremost but just very little pain. What should i do in a minute other then to rest it?
Answers:    Similar things happened with me, merely i was pushing myself way too hard for spring.

Basically all you can do is know your limits. At first, go as far as you are comfortable. Then inch down SLOWLY.

Also, don't automatically be in motion into your splits EVER without stretching first. EVER.

Splits is considered one of the more rigorous stretches. Do some jumping jacks to warm up your muscles, later stretch each leg, THEN do splits.

Throwing up moved out side dull pain..
