Her finger is a deep shade of purple and quite bent. She is unable to move it and in that is a constant throbbing. She doesn't want to look stupid if she goes to the hospital and they tell her that its just sprained. What do you dream up?
Answers:    It is possible it is broken if it is a deep shade of purple. How long ago did she injure it? If she isn't able to move it and if it's swollen I would say it could be broken. Would probably be a appropriate idea do get it checked out. Tell her she won't look stupid. Trust me. I work at a Hospital and people come within with things that are stupid and a possibly broken finger isn't stupid.
Put ice on it and don't move the finger or hand until you achieve it checked out.
If she doens't get it straightened out or if it doesn't straighten out on it's own she could end up with instrument more serious problems like loss of blood flow to part of the finger. The worst case scenario for that would be losing division or all of the finger if blood does not flow through the whole finger it will slowly die off and consequently there's no choice but to remove it!

I have broken my fingers a few times. I have never gone to hospital, though, because mine were not unsuccessfully broken, and if I went to the hospital, there would be nothing that they could do.
I would vote that your friends finger is definately broken. As it is bent, I would recomend that she goes to the hospital. It needs to be straitened out and sorted out there as if she a short time ago leaves it, it is likely that when it heals it will still be bent.
Even if it's not as serious as it may seem, she won't look stupid. This is a broken bone she is dealing next to.
Some people go to hospitals with a cold!!

The reflective shade of purple represents severe bruising, which means she busted some capilaries/veins causing blood to leak out. This is inductive of a broken bone. If she cant move it, more than probable it is broken. Yes it could grow back that way if it cant be moved into proper digit placement. I would certainly see a Dr. Let him pilfer x-ray and be sure. Get to the a & e or it will stay bent forever, my Mum broke hers at 10 years old, and it is still bent 60 years next!

i have exactlly the same problem, myn went purpley grey and swollen and was immensely bent in a peculiar shape and i didnt want to go to the hospital either because i be convinced they were going to tell me to stop bieng so stupid and not to bother its just a sprain infact it wasnt,

my mum took me to the hospital and they said i have broken it in 2 diffrent places, so get your friend to the hospital,

If the finger has a displaced fracture and remains displaced, next it will heal displaced. Then your "Friend" will have little to limited motion surrounded by her finger, and it could be permanently bent. My advice? For her to see a doctor as soon as possible.
