Is my orthopaedic surgeon delay my taking back from knees surgery? Should I silver surgeons for the subsequent one?

I had about 1/3 rd of my lateral meniscus removed along near a lateral release. My doctor wants no weight deportment on the knee for 3 weeks, and partial weight deportment on the 4th week! As I understand it, many population start putting weight on the leg on the second day, and return to conventional activity within 4-6 weeks. I'm at the fourth week and nowhere in close proximity being 100%. I recently get laid off and I feel resembling I'm wasting what little money I have on co-pays for physical therapy because the psychotherapist has to go at a snail's tread because of what he wrote on the prescription. This is also a drag on my life. It makes everything harder.

I'm also going to enjoy to have the same two procedures done on the other knees. It's a hassle to switch doctors, but I'm wondering if I should go to a surgeon who will allow a more realistic retrieval time frame. I'm only 29 and I see no reason to drag this process along, although I'm indubitably no expert. I've just done a lot of reading on the subject.

Shoulder problem?

First, a menisectomy is different than a meniscal debridement. The gaping majority of people have the latter which allows for instant weightbearing. In menisectomy, the meniscus is actually removed whereas with debridement, it is basically "smoothed out", preserving most of the menesicus. Need for a meniscectomy usually denotes a more severe injury. Therefore, menisectomy is a little bit more of an aggressive procedure. Combine that with a lateral release resting on it, and one needs to be more conservative than with a meniscal debridement. Furthermore, various people also get a microfracture procedure to oblige cartilage regenerate. This often requires a non weight stance status.

You may want to discuss if you can be set up on primarily a home exercise program until your status improves and need for formal PT necessitate it. In other words, sometimes we set someone up on a home exercise program until they are allowed to "do" more...then we bring them back within for more aggressive PT when allowed by the surgeon.

Hope that clears it up.

Very doomed to failure sunburn. cant even put your foot.?

W/ my first surgery it took me about 6 weeks to get to where on earth I could walk w/ out a cane and move at a more run of the mill gait. It was still another 2 weeks before I go back to work. With my last surgery, I be walking on the leg (with an imobilizer on) an hour after surgery. It depends from surgery to surgery, patient to patient.

Drinking Question?

I know two relatives who had this done. One recovered quickly and the other one it took 4 months. It basically depends on the body. Some people recover quicker afterwards others. But if you feel good and their slowing down your psychiatric therapy they could be just milking your insurance company.Check to see if your insurance will let you obtain a second opinion.
