Is my mitt broken from a playful punch?
Today at the beach I was playing next to my friend and I jokingly punched him in the back. My appendage immediately started to hurt. I believe it is my 5th metacarpal that is within pain (The one under my pinky). That be about 3-4 hours ago and as of now, I can still fully move adjectives of my fingers with out pain and near is no noticable swelling of the hand (Maybe just a tiny bit). I can also move my paw up and down but it hurts to go side to side. Th pain seem to be coming from the base of the 5th metacarpal but when I touch it, I can not feel any bumps or anything. Is my foot broken?
Answer: Certainly no one can tell you if it is broken or hairline fracture unless you enjoy xrays and sometimes hairlines dont show on xray.But no matter since the only entity if it were broken that you would do is immobilize it ( since it doesnt give the impression of being from your description to be a compound fracture where you would need it reduced) So you know the ancient joke"Doc, it hurts when I do this' and the Doc says' Well dont do that then' Keep it elevated, ice if it gets worse, agree to it rest from hard labor and stop punching your friend. !
