Is this really considered 'dr shopping'?
So i've had the same dr for a few years. Lately i've have a ton of pain, so I get checked by an ortho and it turns out I own very severe arthritis in my lower joint (knees, ankles). My dr will only prescribe NSAID's, which I can't take due to a stomach problem. So he say "take tylenol, and learn to live beside the pain."
So I said I wanted a second assessment, because tylenol doesn't work and i'm in so much pain I can almost not walk some days. He told me that if I saw another dr, that would be dr shopping and I would get arrested for that. So I touch stuck. I just want my pain to be treated- i'm not an user or anything.
Answer: Cripe! He sounds joyous. Tell him to live oNE day with the apin you hold. Sorry for going off but I had to struggle for years trying to bring back a diagnosis for my chronic pain. First of all...no this is not dr. shopping. Thats general public who scam and just want narcotics in bucket loads from dr to dr to dr to dr..that's not you. You do deserve cramp relief. The pain you grain is real and extreme. I don't think you're merely being a big baby next to a simple ache or pain. No, tylenol isn't going to give a hand the pain you're describing. sigh. I can't take nsaids any really I did for years, I got no relief and they tore up my stomach. You involve to start from scratch again and find a doc who is first of all going to believe you. It's your right as a lenient to be treated adiquatly for your pain. You could visit the ER and possibly tell them whats been going on. They too are lower than a contract to help you and DEAL with your backache and managenment of it. Maybe a specialist of some sort if a family doc wont treat you or vice versa. I wish you adjectives the best and you are doing nothing wrong. You have a legetimate diagnosis specifically widely known to be very rough. I hope you get the help you deserve soon. It's ashame those in true pain hold to be subjected to humiliation and feeling afraid to
tell the docs how we really discern...for when we do alot of the time we get blown off as of late a "drug seeker". It's a discrace.
Although I do understand docs have to be cautious as to who's lying, whos scamming..but I wouldnt think it should be that hard. I identify now most docs are more worried about their lisence later the oath they took when they became physicians.
I hurt for you inside as it breaks my heart because I like you know REAL stomach-ache. It's no joke. Seeking another doctor's opinion is not doctor shopping. If you have a medical condition that suppports your armour, by all means desire a different medical opinion. Rememberd doctors disgnose based on the information available to them. Your current doctor may be misdiagnosing your condition. You can other contact your health plan first to ask their opinion and within are referral services for most health plans also.Hope this helps.

Definitely obtain another doctor. It is not doctor shopping when you are just looking to have your condition better manage. You have every right to look for a physician that will treat you with respect and deal with your pain correctly. You're NOT going to get arrested. I've switched Dr's myself and it would be prudent for you to do so too. Switch to a Rhuematologist for your medical condition and drop that current quack.Dr. shopping usually means you're looking for a better Dr.than the one you currently have, but if you're seeing" multiple Dr's for one and the same treatment" w/an INTENT of seeking extra pills/ Rx's like vicodon/codeine etc.than in the flip side that's also falls into the definition of Dr. Shopping.

Wow! He's a actual winner!! Get another doctor! You can see as many as you want. It's "shopping around" to find the best individual to do the job right. I don't get it. Does he regard he is the Doctor God?I dont know if its doctor shoping but i can tell your in mega twinge by the way you type. Any dr that tells you to pinch nsiads or tylnol for the pain in quack. It just helps with serve cronic misery and they rip your stomach to shreds. I just recently dumped a quack for indistinguishable reason now own a time in half gettin another as am unisured and they are expensive. Your best bet is to find a dr whom have a clue about pain. And a couple of tips. Pain clinics are a apt place to look. Also it may be a good idea to discuss to some people like at the hospital and dr office the 1's in charge and let them know what the quack is up to.
