Knee Injury Question. Plant and verbs - LCL - Meniscus?
I injured my knee playing Football. There was no contact involved. I be trying to make a cut (change directions). I planted my foot turned my body and my knee twisted and give out.
There was a lot of torment, and my knee could not support my weight for just about 1 week or two. I had some inflamation, and pain on the outside of my departed knee, as well as inside the knees, but not severe pain.
It has be about 2 months since the injury, and most of my pain is gone, but my knees has lost most range of motion. I can move it from 20 to 90 degree, then it locks and It hurts a lot if I try to bend it bygone 90 degrees, or extend it past 20 degree.
I can walk on it just fine, and it can hold the entire shipment of my body.
I don't have medical insurance, so I want to see if anyone can give me an view of what could be wrong, before I end up have to pay for MRI and Surgery out of pocket.
Thanks for taking the time.
Answer: X-Ray it as a start, it is much cheaper than an MRI.
If you want to play Football again or run you will need to get hold of a correct diagnosis.
Some doctors and MRI places will work with you on the price if you tell them you don't enjoy insurance.
I had a torn meniscus and had throbbing if I used a threadmill. I had an MRI to confirm and got physical dream therapy 3 times a week for a month-Ultrasound, stim and ice and I am ok now as long as I don't dance on a threadmill again. I am 50 and it is a quality of life issue. Most injuries singular get harder to rectify if you wait too long. Number one see an orthopedic doctor who specializes surrounded by knees. Once you get a correct diagnosis you can google it and see all the possible treatments.
u read out that ur knee buckled and then could not support ur freight... that leads me to believe that u have destabilized ur ACL...
the locking is the key symptom in a meniscus cleave...
i understand that the necessary test are expensive but also necessiary...
dont wast ur time or money with an xray, cause they wont show the ligaments and mensicus... i would suggest that u bring back an MRI as soon as u can
until u can get one i would stay off ur knees as much as possible, and invest in a good knees brace from a sporting good store with hinge to wear while weight bearing
best of luck
