Lower belly anguish???

My husband has been have pain in his lower belly on his left side. It is made worse by eating, drinking, yawning, sneezing, etc. It is a sharp stomach-ache, ranking about 6 out of 10 on the pain level. What would cause this and is it necessary to travel to the ER or can he wait til tomorrow to go to his doctor?

Answer:    Appendix is lower right quadrant. Whether this desires a trip to the ER is something you really should call your doctor and ask. But before you christen, your doctor is going to ask:

Has this happened before
Does he enjoy a fever (so take his heat before you call)
When did it start
When has he eat
What did he eat
Are there any lumps that can be feel through the skin
Any hot spots
When has he last have a bowel movement or passed gas
Was his last bowel movement before or after the headache started
Was it normal, abnormal?

That's lately some of the questions that the doctor will likely ask on the phone and will surely ask if your husband see the doctor in the morning, or if he goes to the ER tonight.

Call your doctor and permit him evaluate before you go to the ER or try to make available your husband any over the counter or home remedies.

It sounds like a Hernia which is essentially a rupture usually noticed as a lump, commonly surrounded by the groin or the umbilical region. It appears when a portion of the tissue which lines the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) breaks through a weakened area of the abdominal wall.

This can organize to discomfort as the hernia enlarges and can sometimes be dangerous if a piece of intestine become trapped ('strangulated') inside.

He definalty needs to be seen, but can probablly hang around for tomorrow, unless he is having severe pain.

BTW: Just so you own correct info..the appendix/gallbladder are in the Right upper quadrant..
Possible diverticulitis...has the strain been getting worse throughout the day? If your husband is surrounded by a lot of pain I would bring him to the ER. If he is have a fever or feeling sick and has abdominal swelling then it is conspicuously necessary. If there is no frenzy or any kind of bleeding or nausea he should be o.k until tomorrow now if it be the right sice i would tell you yo go to the E.R but if the dull pain hits a 10 on a scale go A.S.A.P.
He could hold an infection, or a serious stomach problem. Take him to the ER. Could it be a hernia? Appendix? Fever? Regardless I would make him go to the ER asap.
