I've suffered ear infections all my duration and it is always best to let them drain. If the solution stays inside it irittates the ear more. If it persists, you really should see a doctor if you haven't to see if you need antibiotics. If it's not draining, sleeping with that ear down may just trade name the pain worse and won't be helpful.
The best treatment for an ear infection is time and Tylenol. If those are ineffective (which singular happens rarely) then you may stipulation some type of antibiotic.
