Muscle headache, & stress infection due to a swimming course?
So last night I started a bronze medallion course at the local YMCA, I didn't really come prepared for the course. I don't swim on a weekly basis, the swimming programme I took were over 3 years ago, & I really had no idea purely how physically demanding swimming could be.
So everyone else in the course are great swimmers (most on their schools swim team) so I'm kind of the far one out, near less swimming experiece. I had to learn going on for 7 different swim moves last night, & master them that very same hours of darkness (of course I'm still behind the other swimmers). So today when I woke up, I was very sick to my stomache, stayed home from conservatory, & have VERY sore leg muscles. I will be taking this course every wednesday night until mid april, what should I do about the strain in my legs, & the stress induced stomache sickness?
Ibuphrofen does not seem to be working!
Help is GREATLY appreciated.
Answers: Though muscle aches and pains are adjectives, they are never any fun. Especially if every move you make is painful. A good method to avoid trauma to the muscles is by remembering to stretch them gently before activity. Your local gym, or vigour practioner can point you in the right direction if you're not sure what stretches would be most beneficial. Stretching is especially valuable during the winter months when mucle fibers are contracted to conserve body heat. When experiencing muscle strain caused by injury or overuse, rest the region affected until the inflammation subsides. During the first 24 hours, an application of ice is advise to alleviate swelling. Never apply ice to bare skin, but use protective covering, or an ice pack. After the initial rest time, many people find a heating wad or water bottle soothing, or an alternation of hot and cold. Massage can bring relief, and after a rest period, calm stretching can also help the muscles regain their elasticity and health. Homeopathy can be of great benefit before, during and after sports, especially if bruising, swelling, spasms or throbbing are present. In some cases, muscle pain can be an indicator of a more serious health problem. It's alway wise to check near your health practitioner is the pain is severe or chronic
