My ancestral doctor is charging me $110.00 lately to achieve my files from her,is this ordinary?
i am transferring to a new family doctor because this ripened doctor of mine has been asking me to travel for a check up after every 2 weeks which i find ridiculous.plus it takes 3-4hrs of waiting time. so i transferred but she's asking me to pay for my documents which is $110.00 for me and for my husband is $44.00 how did she come up near these figures?

a checkup every 2 weeks? unless you have a medical condition, that's not average.the only reason i can presume of for the charges is that she's charging you so much per page or something. When i transferred doctors, I wasn't charged anyrhing. Call and ask why are you being charged that much.
1. There's no reason to run for a checkup every two weeks unless you're dying of something. It is prudent to go every year, and perfectly fitting to go every two or three years.
2. I don't know what the Canadian rules are but here in the States to be exact free information because it's technically yours. Seems like your government form plan would cover the files too.

That's a pretty high-ranking charge if you have a standard sized file, i.e., smaller number than 100 pages. I'm a doc, and we never charge anything like that. We don't charge when we are forwarding library to another doc, but we do charge when they're going to a lawyer or a government department, for example.
The standard fee for copying medical records vary from state to state (I'm assuming that you are American since I don't know). In my state, that fee is a handling charge of $17.05 plus a fee of $.40 per page for copies of documents made on a standard photocopy device.

I've had the 'new' doctor charge me for transferring the files, but not that amount, but not the doctor I was departing. I would ask why. Anymore, everything is done electronically. EMail style...She might be sending them by Cob and Co. coach. She is a rip off. Ask your new doctor to own them sent over and see how much it will cost.
