ok well i just got my arm contained by a real cast yesterday (friday) but my hands still swelled up and my ethnic group is taking a trip to florida monday will the swelling in my hand be down by then.
(by the route my doc said it was ok to go to florida im not going behind his back)

Swelling is usual as long as the fingers are not getting cold or dusky in color. That would mean the cast is too tight and wishes to be replaced. You can help the swelling by keeping the elbow elevated on a pillow so it is approximately even with the shoulder. Do this anytime you are sitting or lying down. Also taking an antiinflamatory for a few days should help both swelling and distress.
