Pain medication after surgery?
I'm currently on fnetynal 12mcg and Ultram200mg. I will be having knee surgery. I will still enjoy to take pain meds even after I make well from this surgery. My question is will I have to increase my everyday discomfort medication after getting higher doses from the surgery and right after the surgery. I will probably be on high dose agony meds for 3 to 6 weeks.
How could my pain meds still be effective if I hold been on higher doses?
Wouldn't my body be used to it and require more torment meds than my normal dose?
Answer: Once admitted to Hospital they will stop the Fentanyl and Ultram! They will afterwards decide what pain drugs you will be on while surrounded by Hospital before and after the surgery. Once you are discharged the Hospital will give you a prescription or epistle for your Physician and he will follow what the Hospital dictate. If the 'reason' for the Fentanyl and Ultram was your knee problem, next after surgery, given a few weeks of Physiotherapy, you should not need pain drugs. Once the 'problem' is 'fixed' consequently that is the end of the affliction! Best of Luck
I had knee surgery 15 years ago. Stayed contained by the Hospital 4 days. They had me on Morphine while I was near. Then I went to Rehab Center for 2 weeks and they had me on a couple of strong painkillers. When I go home I took Ultham200mg because I didn't want to get hooked on those pain meds. You can't get hold of hooked on Morph. if you are REALLY taking it to relieve pain. Ultham is non habit forming and have no side effects, but it works great. You'll have some rehab at home, but from what I hear that surgery is a lot easier immediately. Your pain meds wont go up, except at the hospital. After that they will stir down. I hope you are just having one knees done at a time. It is almost impossible to get into a standing position when u are sitting on the throne. (Sorry, no delicate means of access to put that.) Good Luck with that replacement. Its sure a lot better than the distress you're having now.
