Pain meds and Babies!?
My 10 month old daughter poured my freshly made chai tea down herself. She burnt herself really impossible. Last night she woke up an hour before she be due for new medication in cramp. I held off for about 45mins up to that time I gave her the medication.
Her medication has paracetamol & codeine. because it have paracetamol I didn't want to give her panadol at the time because I would be doubling up. I also didn't want to give her nurophen because I didn't know if ibprofen is nontoxic to use with codeine.
I just want to know is it possible to distribute her the medication an hour early if really needed like ending night. She was almost screaming resembling when it happened. Warm milk calmed her down for a while. She is meant to own meds every 8 hrs.
Also Just then when I was double checking what be in the bottle I found a warning dictum not for children under 2. It was prescribed for her at the HOSPITAL yesterday after they put her dressings on but is it still out of danger for her?

Answer: When it came to my kids, I other followed the doctors instructions exactly. They don't have much body weight to distribute the drug. I had to give one of my boys codeine elixer after his surgery and I be extremely uncomfortable giving him a narcotic so I sympathize. I wouldn't give it any sooner that prescribed though, it's in recent times too dangerous. The codeine is a central agitated system depressant, too much in the babies system at once and he could stop breathing.
I wouldn't worry more or less giving it as prescribed, I'm sure the hospital adjusted the dosage for the child's body weight and it is sheltered to follow their instructions.
I'm so sorry this happened. It is heartbreaking when a child is in distress, and I know it is confusing for them. They don't understand and have no process to communicate with you. All you can do is follow the instructions you have and make available the baby lots of love and reassurance.
