Please Help! Medicare GAP Prescription coverage contained by AZ mode I earnings 4K out of my pocket for $$Parkinsons meds?
Have Medicare and AARP as secondary coverage. Can't function physically without my meds but can not afford the so call 'donut hole gap'. Please kindly advise me: I am at a complete loss of what to do and can't know how congress could pass such legislation for those who would be most ill and and so most needy financially and medically. ? Are you familiar near an additional RX plan? ?A reputable over the border pharmaceutical company?. .Just don't know how I will make it. Thanks open-handedly. ALL suggestions appreciated. This is a very serious situation that I need assistance beside.
Answer: As an independent agent in Arizona I find the AARP prescription plan to be one of the most expensive plans for most of my clients. You are stuck with that plan for the rest of the year but this stumble you can change. Find an independent agent that will do an analysis of your medications to find the best one. The analysis will speak about you the total cost over the year, including the premium.
In the meantime, here is a link where you can find out in the order of any programs for free meds: http://www.needymeds.com/ You will need to search out your medication to find out if a program is available.
You can also check AHCCCS to see if you qualify for extra relief: http://www.ahcccs.state.az.us/site/
Here is a link to the Pima Council on Aging which can also be a source of information: http://www.pcoa.org/
One of the radio stations in Tucson sponsors a afternoon trip by bus to the pharmacies in Nogales every month. You could take your prescriptions near to see if the medication is available.
Also, here is a link to a free discount drug card which may help: http://drugcardamerica.com/index.aspx?af...
Just remember that any medication not received through the drug plan will not count to or through the donut hole. This can be a doomed to failure or a good thing, depending upon your specific situation. Your total costs over the year may be smaller number if and when you go through the donut hole into catastrophic coverage. Each med will then cost smaller quantity than $10 per month as long as the med is on the formulary.
EDIT FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Yes, in most cases when you move into an area you enjoy an SEP where you can change plans. You may contact me through my profile if you'd similar to my help. There is no extra charge using the services of an agent.
Have you been properly learned on the best medicare program that works for you? Check out your local Center for Aging. Usually at the county offices. It will go over the best program that right for you and look over your meds and find out what program wil administer you the most benefit with what your on. Plus they would have info on other inferior coverages. Also ask your pharmacist or call to other pharmacies to get comparable prices. I worked contained by a pharmacy and saw some people pay too much for meds because of inappropriate billing or inadequate info. And some pharmacy's can get much better deal. Check with wal-mart and find out what they charge for their meds. If you are paying a percentage of the price than this could make a big difference.
In November and December, you'll be allowed to switch insurance companies for 2009. Go to http://www.medicare.gov and run the the Part D calculator. Put in all your prescriptions, and it will explain to you what plan is the cheapest for you. You'll waste money by going to an insurance agent.
The purpose of Part D is to help populace with the most severe problems and people beside average prescription needs. Also, they wanted to hold on to it within a budget. Some of the initial ideas included a $1000 deductible. The average personality does not get into the donut hole. There are plans which will cover drugs in the crevice.
Since you got into the Gap in April, near is a good chance you will bring out of it in the fall. Once you are out of it, the plan will cover 95% of your cost.
I cannot recommend any international pharmacies. There is no guarantee of sanctuary. You hear about awful stories of people buying prescriptions from other countries.
Do you qualify for access ( ahccc) AZ medicaid? If so, you would attain the full cost covered between the medicare / medicaid. To qualify I think the cap for income is approx 1800 a month, step to (my ahcccs on line) it has the guidelines on the site. Also Walgreen's has a discount on some meds, along beside Sam's club and Walmart. Pharmaceutical company's will give you free medications some time's, you own to call them, ask your pharmacist for their number's and any advice they may hold. There is a organization that pays for Rx's when you can't afford them, Montel William endorses the org, I don't know the name of it, perchance a pharmacist will know, or goggle it. I'm in AZ, I've had some assist through Sam's Club. I know some one who went throu the Mayo Clinic and got free meds, he couldn't live lacking and couldn't afford. good luck ( type in Montel williams free medicine) the net sight is the one that he endorses for free medicine.I found allot of companys that will give a hand.
