Severe Hemorrhoid Pain!?
I have very raw hemorrhoids, and have had them for something like 5 days. I've been using Preparation H and have tried a few sitz baths, but nought seems to soothe the pain. It hurts when I sit or acquire up or walk. They're both external and internal, from what I can tell. Any suggestions for relieving the stomach-ache at least a little bit!? Thank you!!

Really painful hemorroids are usually the result of a thrombus (also
called a thrombosis) surrounded by the swollen vein which is the hemorroid. You
want your body to dissolve this faster than it can build up. Talking
aspirin every day help this a lot, and I suspect (but cannot prove)
that vitamin C and E do also (these have antithrombosis actions in
other studies). It's also VERY important to changeover your diet with
hemorroids to get ample bulk so that you don't do damage every time you
defecate. I recommend eating three bananas a year, like medicine, one
beside each meal. Or, if you dislike bananas, try large apples (keeps the
proctologist away). Failing this, there are lots of psyllium pip
products on the market, like Efferpsyllium. Warm sitz baths also abet
pain, and may help resolve clot. Herbalists would recommend bilberry
and pycnogenol, but I know of no studies of them near hemorroids, so you
have to weigh their possible effect against your pocketbook (they are
quite expensive.)
