Severe leg cramps at dark?
hi im 16 and almost every single night for the last couple of night i have been woken up usually approaching around one or two in the morning with this severe distress in my right leg. i mean i can scarcely even descripe the pain but i can tell you that it is the worst anguish i have ever felt within a long time! i would probably rate it a nine or a ten if i was to rate it from one to ten. it wakes me up at first and my leg merely gets a little stiff and is hurting simply a little and then it hits me and i any hold my breath or cry. it only had to evolve once for me to recognize when its going to happen again because finishing night i woke up and my leg was hurting a bit and felt a little sore and i know that it was about to develop again before it did, and i went ahead and held my breath and my leg a moment ago gets really stiff. sorry im trying to explain it the best i can cause i dont want to budge to the doctor unless absolutely necessary but i would resembling to know what this is. i havent been exercising or anything..
Answer: To help prevent dark leg cramps:
Drink plenty of fluids during the day.
Stretch your leg muscles before bedtime.
Get so-so potassium in your diet (bananas are a good source of potassium)
If you do capture a leg cramp, you may be able to make it move about away by:
Walking on the affected leg
Massaging the affected muscle
Straightening your leg and flexing your foot toward your knees until you feel the calf muscles stretch
Applying a cold pack to the affected muscle
Taking a hot tub
I agree that it sounds like a Charlie Horse. If you are athletic/sporty and are on your feet alot that would explain it. You can also try increasing your potassium intake...resembling eat a banana or 2 before bed to try to relief and be sure that you are not dehydrated (drink lots of water)...if it keeps up though I would DEFINITELY transmit your parents and get checked out by a doctor.

in appendage to what everybody else said, i would highly recommend eating more bananas, wearing better shoes when you exercise, and taking potassium vitamin pills.I have the same problem myself. Take a vitamin E pill (400mg) at night past bed. Don't laugh. It works. Try it.
This is what is called a 'Charlie Horse', I am sure near is a more medical name for it, but I don't know what it is. I used to get them greatly when I was a bartender and was on my foot all the time and usually wearing heels. Sometimes I would get them within the day if I moved my foot in a indisputable position.
What helped was getting some extra potassium - a really cheap mineral in the vitamin isle of every drug store. Drink more water too, during the year.
During the day, do some leg stretches like you would earlier running or jogging. They will help too.
I know it's fear-provoking and very painful.
