Answer: do you have any white spots on your tonsils?
it could be a chronic infection of yeast (yes, yeast can grow in your mouth) or strep throat.
if it keep bothering you and gets really sore for a long time again, go to an ENT (ear, trunk, and throat doctor) who specializes in things like that and attain their opinion for getting tonsils out or not.
personally, the younger you are, the easier it is to remove tonsils. i be 16 almost 17 when mine were removed...i wont lie, it be 2 weeks of **** after that...i lost so much weight and was miserable. but that be after 8 months of chronic infections.
it will be a little easier for you because youre younger, but it also depends how deep the surgeon have to go to get adjectives the tonsil and scar tissue out. mine was also relatively reflective, so that also added to the pain.
you will be given a liquid aching medicine, probably lortab or vicodin for it if you do get your tonsils out. NO ICE CREAM AT FIRST! you dont want to cough and rime cream can cause you to get phlegm within your throat and cough. after the first few days, you can have all the rime cream you want.
as for school, i would say you'd miss an average of something like a week, no more than two weeks.
Go to another MD for a 2nd opinion. Maybe go to an ENT MD. Did your MD speak about you it was tonsillitis?
Suck on Zinc lozenges. They really work!
If you had a tonsillectomy, you'd be given broad anesthesia.
You may get some gas from that.
Your throat will probably take 2 weeks to treat. You need to eat & drink Cold things to exhaust swelling...ice cream, cold drinks, ices, sorbet, sherbet, etc.
Good luck
Ibuprofen is actually not a impossible thing to give for something approaching that, as it is not only a painkiller but also an anti inflammatory, and as your throat be swollen, that is usually a sign of inflammation.
Anyway. I've had my tonsils out after years of misery when I be 26, and the older you are the more it hurts. It was immensely, very painful. I would articulate you need to be sure it is a problem with your tonsils first. Stand within front of a mirror, maybe grab a torch, and start your mouth as wide as you can. Shine the torch in your mouth and look at the tremendously back of your throat. In the middle is this little dangly thingie, and on either side should be your tonsils. Check if they own white/yellowish blobs on them and whether they are very red and look inflamed. My tonsils were chronically infected for years formerly it was finally decided to lug them out - it got to the stage that there be hardly any space in the fund of my throat to breathe, that's how swollen they were. So you should be able to see something in that...
If you're in doubt and the problem with your throat persist, as someone else suggested see an ENT specialist and see what he says.
Good luck :)
Why am I getting strep throat so regularly very soon?
Drinking Question?
Are vicoden and oxycodone, different when it come to a ua, do they show up as different drugs?
