Tips on stopping a bleeding hemorrhoid?
My husband has had hemorrhoid problems since he be 13 years old, but recently they hold gotten worse. He only has one protruding externally from the rectum, but today while he be working (his job requires long periods of standing) and unknowingly by him (he didn't know it until he get home and used the bathroom), it started bleeding. He bled so bad that his boxers were ruined. He's immediately concerned about it happening again while at work, and that he won't know until someone points out to him that he's bleeding.
We own Preparation H Gel, and Tucks wipes. Do either of these relief with the bleeding? Can anyone suggest anything else that we might be able to do?
Update: As of right in a minute, the bleeding has stopped, but what if it happens again?
Answer: The Preparation H reduce or eliminates the hemorrhoids, which will ultimately help next to the bleeding. Has he seen a doctor for a prescription strength ointment for his hemorrhoids? He might enjoy more success with that. I know this sounds ridiculous and possibly degrading, but you could lend him one of your pads to stick to the back of his underwear. That'll help out soak up the blood until he can get to a bathroom. If he's bleeding this much, a doctor might actually be predisposed to operate on him to remove the hemorrhoid. Good luck. Hope he feels better.
