Weird twitching? Side effect of Topamax?

Hi, I've been taking Topamax about...a month in a minute. I started out at 25 mg. I am now up to 150. I've noticed when I am falling asleep or sitting at the computer, a chance muscle will twitch. My thigh, my calf, forearm, you get the idea...is this a side effect of Topamax? I am also taking Wellbutrin, but I don't remember this taking place before? Should I not be taking as much? Sometimes I don't notice it, but I do thought it happening a lot more, and I don't close to it. What should I do?

Answer:    I have been taking Topamax since Nov. and am at 175 mg right in a minute. You are not taking that much at all, 100 mg is the lowest dose and 400 is the highest. The twitching is not something I enjoy experienced with the Topamax directly, although I have have muscles twitch randomly before. When you are relaxing it is common for your body to do this and I know other AED's do list this as a side effect. For me, Topamax mostly caused my hand and feet to feel at first as if they be on fire, and with time that become a numb tingling. I would recommend you not worry about it. In the job of drugs and their effects- a muscle twitch here or there is a godsend compared to what some drugs and their side effects have done so I can try to find something that works for me, and I still haven't. Moderate to serious cognitive impairments, sprain to your organs, these are the things you need to watch for. Then again, I don't know why your taking it. I assume your entail is greater than the comfort of occasional non-twitchiness (for me, I'd weigh extreme twitchiness vs. slight twitchiness). If it really bothers you, you can always switch drugs, but be careful, every drug have its own effects and may not work as well. Good luck finding what works for you and your body.
