The sensation of pins and needles is not cause by a lack of blood circulation. It is caused by the position of that body member putting pressure on a nerve. This nerve pressure cause the impulses in and around that body element to be interrupted, which causes you either to lose passion or to feel the pins and needles sensation.

This is also why peoples hands shift numb when they have carpal tunnel syndrome. The nerve is man pressed by the carpal tunnel and it interrupts the impulses, which causes numbness and distress.

When a body part "falls asleep", the blood circulation has be limited to that part of the body, ie, if you are sitting on your foot, the blood doesn't flow through confidently.
