I dunno why but my right legs is aching really bad & its going up into my lower backbone. What can cause this.? It almost like my leg is tightening up & it hurts close to cramps. If you can help. I would appericate it.thanks
Answer: There can be a little reasons for this to be happening.
Have you be active lately?
Are you sweating a lot?
If this is the overnight case you might want to eat a banana because you may be deficient surrounded by potassium.
You also could be deficient in Electrolytes.
Another point may be you hurt your lower back and it's radiating down the leg. If that is the covering apply ice then grill several times a day to the affected nouns, for at least 15 minutes each. Limit stir for a week or so. You don't want to reagrivate your back.
If the pain carry on after a week you ought to see a physician. You could have a disc injury or kidney stones.
Best of luck and feel better soon~.
Cramps, sometimes call Charley horses, are unpleasant, often painful, sensations cause by contraction or over shortening of muscles. Cramps can be caused by cold, overexertion or low calcium level within blood (especially for adolescents where they need calcium for both blood and bone maturing). Illness or poisoning can also wreak cramps, particularly in the stomach, which is referred to as colic if it fits pernickety characteristics
In most cases the cause is not known. One guess is that cramps occur when a muscle that is already contained by a shortened position is stimulated to contract. As the muscle is already shortened, to contract further may cause the muscle to go into spasm. This commonly happen at night in bed as the unconscious position we lie in is beside the knees slightly bent (flexed), and with feet pointing slightly downwards. In this position the calf muscle is relatively shortened and prone to cramps. This assumption explains why stretching exercises may cure the problem.
Secondary causes
In some cases, the cramps may be a symptom of another condition or problem. For example:
Some medicines can motivation cramps as a side-effect, or make cramps occur more commonly. These include: diuretics ('water tablets'), nifedipine, cimetidine, salbutamol, terbutaline, lithium, clofibrate, penicillamine, morphine (withdrawal), phenothiazines, and nicotinic acid.
Over-exertion of muscles.
Dehydration.
Conditions that cause alterations within the balance of salts surrounded by the bloodstream (such as a high or low sodium or potassium level).
Some people who own renal (kidney) dialysis get leg cramps.
Pregnancy - usually in the following stages.
An untreated under-active thyroid gland.
Peripheral vascular disease (narrowing of the leg arteries which causes poor circulation).
Cirrhosis of the liver is a rare rationale.
Lead poisoning.
Sarcoidosis.
Rare disorders of nerves.
Excess alcohol.
treatment for a leg cramp?
Stretching and massaging the affected muscle (usually a calf muscle) can usually relieve an attack of cramp. Most cramps soon help off. Painkillers are not usually helpful for a sudden attack of cramp. However, a palliative such as paracetamol may help to ease muscle discomfort and discomfort that sometimes persists for up to 24 hours after a cramp has gone.
