What do I do? Spider Bite?
I am baby sitting a little boy who is eight and we be outside playing and he suddenly screamed and was holding his mitt! I drew a circle around the bite mark, because five minutes later it be swelling up! Now his whole hand is swelling! I'm keeping him busy and he doesn't know! I've call his parents, they know. I live in an area near brown recluses! How do I know?? Help!
Answer: Take him to the ER. Its better to be safe than sorry. Especially near a little kid..
Spider bites don't often hurt terribly badly when the spider initially bites you. If the boy was acting resembling he was in a great deal of pain, it's more likely that he be stung by a bee.
Also, brown recluses are named because they are a short time ago that: recluses. They hide profoundly during the day. Unless the kid was playing contained by an old wood pile or something, he probably didn't get bit by a outsider. But it's hard to say beside absolute certainty.
You should survey him. If his whole hand is swelling up, he probably get bit or stung by something with venom. And that can end in allergic reactions. If he starts looking like he can't breath or something, call upon 911..
I would call a local urgent care and ask them. It may be a localized counterattack but maybe not. Better safe than sorry. There are also numbers you can name in the phone book that may offer some aid. If in doubt I would go to emergency room. Is he breathing ok? Any impetuous starting? Are you sure it is a spider? Watch for shortness of breath, rash and other swelling. Lips, tongue, face . Good luck and hopefully parents are on method home to you. Good job drawing circle around it. :) The habitat of the Brown Recluse is the **Southeastern and Midwestern United State.** To date the reported fatalities from Brown Recluse bites are limited to children beneath eight years of age.

The child should be taken to ER immediately.
