my doc says that he can burn the nerve ends (i construe that is what he said) that are causing my final pain. what would this be like? more twinge or relief

Is it worth doing? will it help my hip niggle permenantly? my pain is from a fall 25 yrs ago. i sagging from the pain in my buttocks. some times my leg only just goes out from under me. adjectives from the fall.
any info would help in the order of the permenant pain relief.
