What should you do for bee stings?

okay so i was at a lake roughly speaking to meet my friend there and i stepped on a bee and get stung. that happened around 1pm and i couldnt do anything for it til i got home which be about 6:30pm. it hurts really bad but swelling go down. BUT i never actually got the stinger out...im guessing thats fruitless...i took a bendryl and it hasnt really helped..what should i do?!? im kinda worried because i know my dad is majorly allergeic.

Answer:    I am a bee keeper and receive at lowest possible one sting a weak. If you were severely allergic you wold know by in a minute. only honey bees loose there stinger when they sting unless for some idea it was broken off when you knock it away from your body. with a honey bee sting you are mostly concerned with removing the stinger because the toxin sack is attached. I would guess that after 5 hours on the bottom of your foot you would have scraped it off by immediately (at least the venom sack) If you can still see the stinger at this point treat it resembling a splinter. it will itch for a few hours and be sore for a few days. Benadrial may help some with the itching. Dont listen to wives tale about tobacco or other topical treatments I have never found them to work.
