I mean would the contact lenses shield your iris and pupil from it so it won't hurt, or would the mace stick near your eye and start hurting truly?

If you are wearing soft contact lenses, the chemical would be absorbed into the lens. They would be unusable afterwards because of that. If you did try to put them on again, the chemical would still be there and it would burn you again. The lenses will not feat as any kind of a shield. And the eye will be uncomfortable because ALL the tissues that received the capsaicin or mace would be irritated.

I know. I am an ER doctor and occasionally, the police bring subjects surrounded by to have their eyes washed out and their contact lenses removed. They are contained by too much pain to do it themselves.

it would still go in your eye as the lens just covers the iris, as you said. The mace would go in the rest of your eye anyways. Wouldnt really clear a difference. lol. I always wondered that too , i wear contacts. lol

The mace would get trapped bringing up the rear the contact lens making it much more painful for longer as it would be harder for the tears to wash it away.

Glasses would donate better protection.
