I have been thinking just about this for a long time now and seriously considering it. Sometimes I think "ya, I markedly want to" and other times I am not so sure. So I am thinking I will just go to attain EMT-basic certified and see how I like it. Because it couldn't hurt to be EMT-basic anyway, right.

I work within an ER tell me if you are called to a burning home beside two children inside badly burned, not breathing, the mother screaming at you and asking why? the father trying to get the the concluding child trapped inside, could u do ur job? I'm not asking you not to be emoitonaly involved, but could you take the dying child contained by your arms and give her your breath b/c there's no time to hook her to a device? and do this for the 15 mins it takes you to draw from to the ER? If you can we need you. if not...powerfully drive the box u'd still be helping.

Sounds like you've got a apposite plan. It doesn't take long to get your Basic documents and it would give you a good model of whether or not you want to make a career within EMS.
