Why are dr's so high-speed to prescibe anti-depressants?
My dr feels that anti-depressants are the answer for anxiety/panic - which I quess - they may work for some people but I hold tried 4 different types and the sideeffects are not worth it to me.I think she feels I'm anyone diffulcult and now want to send me to a psycopharmacologist? I merely want some relief with out those anti-depressants that be paid me feel sick! Can anyone help me?
Answer: Have you tried psychotherapy? That would be a possibly successful way to address the panic/anxiety without medication. A therapist or psychologist should be able to drill you skills to manage the anxiety on your own. Good luck!
My husband suffered from sever depression and anxiety. We went thru 3 doctors and I don't remember how oodles different medications before he concluded up with a very righteous psychiatrist. Within 3 weeks they had found the correct medications and the correct dosage. My husband beside the doctors help is now down to 1 small pill at bed time and he can embezzle one if he is feeling really anxious. He hasn't needed an extra pill in over 4 months. I am only sorry that we did not see the psychiatrist to start with. Good luck I know how hard it can be.

This is the Doctors training:Panic attacks are very frightening, and can give the impression of being to happen for no reason, but they are if truth be told fear of fear. The frenzy is a reaction to physical sensations in the body, connected to individual afraid, to which the person has become sensitized. These organic responses are triggered by adrenalin, and set up a feedback loop.
One in three people can expect to hold a panic attack at some stage. It's common for athletic, young adults to have occasional hysterics attacks.
Attacks may be unpredictable and frightening, but they are not harmful or dangerous.
An attack come on at a rate of knots and usually last for between five and 20 minutes, although this may vary.
You may be more prone to hysterics attacks if you have depression or anxiety, asthma or diabetes, are taking stimulants (such as amphetamine or caffeine) or withdrawing from tranquillizers.
Therefore you are sensitized to fear!
I have just gone to bed, turned over and noticed a flash of muted in the dinning room? I thought: odd, the curtains are closed, so why did I see the oil lamp am I imagining it? Therefore I got up out of bed, walk into the kitchen/dinning room and saw a dark figure standing contained by the corner about to nab my MP3 player! Now I am female, I am disabled: Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am almost 50. I 'assume' most females would enjoy SCREAMED! I did not, my instinct, I threw the light on clapped my hands together and said 'Right you B****RD, Now I own Got You!' The burglar froze! Unfortunately, the next part be kinda missing! What does one do next? As I was without a doubt lost, he made his escape and by the time I unlocked the rear door, he was something like to get away, except in his PANIC he fell over the lead fence and got caught. Problem self 'legally' he was no longer on my private property and as such he had not stolen from my house! Anyway I run and shouted and screamed, woke my Mother up who decided I have gone completely deranged and was about to give the name the Doctor? I called the Police and they arrived, found me running around bare foot wearing partially my PJ's. Once I came in I started to shiver and shake and Mother contracted I was in shock? Um no I be bloody frozen and the grass wet, so my feet freezing. However, detail you I had no mobility problems, the adrenaline rush made me 'super human', honest. If I had caught him, all right I would not be responsible for my actions and the Police made sure by asking me why he 'escaped' this way and not the 'other' course. The reason because it was the faster root sour my property, so legally the burglar could have sued me, if I have damaged him!
Having always watch CSI, Law and Order, most of the Crime, Murder, Sexual Assault, programs, one would think I should have set 'better'. The FEAR of those programs should have sensitized me to run like Hell! However when the adrenaline rush hit, it be a simple 'flight or fight' response a Cave Man instinct that set in and so I was all set to FIGHT!
I guess if you were in my bed that dark, you would have pulled the covers over your head and have a panic attack, because you would fear the worse! Therefore my push for is simple, see a Counselor and get to the root of why you are over sensitive to fear? Sometime it is something from your bygone, something that you have blocked out because you were frightened and unless you obverse that memory, it will not be easy, then you will other have the anxiety/panic. Me? Well as I said to the Police Man, 'Oh well second time LUCKY' as he almost collapsed on the floor! I expect he is sit in his car every dark Praying that I am not burgled again, because he is thinking of all the paper work he will own to do! Best of Luck
