Why does your body (joints & such) hurt when you own a restlessness?

I know lots about fevers and their looking after having just recovered from salmonella poisoning, a sinus infection & a vicious cold in a span of three weeks. What I can't find is a good explanation of why things sting when you have a fever. Is it because the fluids within your body are, to an extent, "heated" causing a reaction? I find that pooled pain (and dry mouth) often precede a restlessness. Thanks for your input.

Answer:    I was thinking it had to do near your white blood cells - mainly because when you are combat an infection fever and white blood cells are your inherent defence. However ... I am not sure ... this is just my guess.
