i wear top and bottom retainers and just recently lost my bottom
i am afraid to detail my parents because its like the third that i have lost/broken. ive be wearing them for about 8 years now.
i know the retainer is contained by my house somewhere, i was just wondering if i move about like a week without wearing them will they mess up my teeth?

You can go a week without wearing them and still be ok. However, if you find your retainer you will observe that your teeth have shifted and it may hurt to put your retainer in.

As for the previous poster truism that she never wore her retainer and her teeth are straight, that's an individual reaction. Some peoples' teeth move more then others and you never know how the teeth would closing up. But, you've been wearing them for 8 years so your teeth probably won't move that much.
