Iliotibial Band Syndrome???


my trainer thinks i own ITBS, but my whole leg hurts, resembling the top of my thingh and my back and my hip. and it just hurts when i play volleyball. and when i run it burns and i can feel it tighten. and it also have muscle spasms. has anybody ever have this???

Your athletic trainer is probably right. The ITB runs from the top of the outside hip down ancient the knee combined. If this is tight it can cause strain along the entire outside of the hip and force other surrounding muscles to compensate and tighten as well, cause more pain. I would start beside stretching and some basic rub or strengthening (which your athletic trainer can show you). ART is not proven to be effective by any research and can be expensive. Start near the simple things (ice, stretch, change of hobby, change of shoewear, etc) back going to more advanced treatments. Consult the links below for more information on causes and treatments.
