Talk to your doctor. One cause of pain/damage to the esophagus is heartburn/gerd. There are a couple of prescription medication that both cut down on the acid within your stomach and heal any erosions surrounded by your esophagus. One is Nexium (the purple pill) and another is protonics. I take Nexium, but for instantaneous relief I bring Pepcid Complete. There are others available, like Tums. Take a look at your diet.
