Answer:
I am getting my tongue pierced on Sunday morning and I have to work Tuesday at 11.?
The MacIntosh procedure be widely used through the 70's and was modified inthe unpunctually 70's. The modified Mac. was also widely used contained by the 80's. Now, the more popular procedure is the Jones procedure. Both are, in reality, very similar, and are outstandingly commonly used for ACL replacement surgery.
They both take the middle third protion of your patellar muscle. The differences lie within how the surgoens attach the tendon. Most surgeons prefer the Jones procedure over the MacIntosh because of the placement. Usually, they will any completely remove the middle third portion of the patellar tendon and culvert it through a tunnel in the tibia in the past attaching it to the femur (your thigh bone). Some just exit the tendon attached after seperating it and consequently attach it to the femur. Some surgeons feel this provides a more accurate placement as it is more closely placed to wear the ACL is and functions better. They attach the ligament with surgical screw.
Either procedure is fine. I would suggest you talk next to your surgeon to find out which one he prefers and get the pro's and con's from him.
Surgery resembling this is done with 2 option for anesthesia. One optionis an epidural, along with "quality good" medicine, and the other is nonspecific, which is where you are asleep through out the entire operation. Either approach, most procedures are out patient very soon.
When you wake up, you will enjoy a brace on your leg, and will not be able to move it for a short term of time, to allow the graft to heal into place. You will hold to go through several months of rehabilitation. If you are youthful and/or a very involved person, I would recommend have it done. This improves stability of the unified, and minimizes problems later.
