I get my splint wet. Please minister to!?

I overflowed my bathroom toilet this morning and in a panic, I accidentally get the cotton under my splint dripping raining with urine-water. I'm sure this couldn't be right for a healing incision, so I quickly ran out and bought some rolled cotton and gauze and took the splint bad. My question is, how should I verbs the area and should I apply any species of ointment or iodine up to that time I rewrap it? I broke my thumb (1st metacarpal) and had to own surgery 9 days ago (last Friday) to have pins inserted. There are 6 emaciated, tape-like strip bandages covering the stitches.

Answers:

Oh no could I own broken my ankle again?

Simply clean it thoroughly beside soap and water, rinse thoroughly, dry completely, and put some triple antibiotic emolument (neosporin) on it and redress it with a heating pad and splint.

The strips of tape are call "steri-strips" and are not really necessary if in attendance are staples or stitches in place.

Let your surgeon know of any increasing reddishness associated with dull pain and possibly drainage from the incision, as they would be signs of infection.

Do I drink too much water?! ?

I would rinse it off, and apply any alcohol, or iodine to it, then construct sure it is completely dry before wrapping. Ointment is suggested. You could also apply the ointment, hang about for the skin to absorb it and afterwards re-wrap the thumb. Might not be a bad model at that!

Ive had a minor headache for 3 days straight presently?

Go to the emergency room and get them to re-wrap the thumb or
you can buy a splint for the thumb - jump to the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist. There are adjectives sorts of things you can buy to immobilize the thumb, verbs it and put sterile bandages on it.

Static electricity?

You did economically to take stale the splint. However, you should be calling your physician to get instructions on whether or not he requirements to look at the incision. After 9 days, it might be closed enough to simply purify with reheat soapy water and after dry well, but that is to say HIS call......not yours or mine. Also, the splint will hold to be put back on, and that wishes to be done by a professional.
At the very lowest possible, go to your closest walk-in clinic, or emergency room. Seriously......don't hold unnecessary chances.
