Problems near i.v.?

I had an i.v surrounded by for a week(had to have site changed 3 times.) and the end time my arm swelled really really bad almost 4 inches bigger than the other arm. Now the I.V. has be out for a day and my integral arm from shoulder down to fingers is aching. And not occasional soreness I mean adjectives the time. On a scale from 1-10 surrounded by pain I would own to give it a 15. It is also rather numb. I am a little freaked out because somebody told me it could be a blod clot???? NEED HELP QUICK. don't want to turn back to the hospital.

What colors do pattern for broken bones come in?

I hold seen plentifully of IVs infiltrate and i have never hear of this much pain, or 4 inches increased circumference. If you be in my hospital they would do a doppler ultrasound to rule out a clot. So I would seize back to your doc/hospital.

Why does it business?

Call the hospital and get recommend. Personally, just for my own piece of mind, I would shift back to the hospital. As for a blood clot, i.e. questionable, as blot clots are usually localized to one area, not the in one piece arm. Go back, be risk-free.

Do you fear going to dentists, and why.?

I'm a nurse. You can use rime for the discomfort. Also it sounds like it infiltrated (meaning the nozzle broke through the vein a few times). This can do discomfort but not to that extreme. I would contact the hospital or either label another trip to see them. You might need to hold a doctor to reexamine the injection and/or IV site. The blood has go into the surrounding tissue, and as a result you have a bruise. I hope this information help you. Don't worry you will be OK.

How should I treaty with my tail bone?

It sounds similar to your IV infiltrated (meaning your vein "sprung a leak" ) and doesn`t matter what fluids were going leak into the tissue space around it. It's something as nurses we try and watch out for because it is tremendously painful plus if you are getting drug, it doesn't go where on earth it's supposed to go.

Most probable you don't have a blood clot, but as to the certainty that I am not your doctor, if you are still worried about this issue, you should appointment or see your regular doctor.

If it is an infiltrated IV, the best thing you can do is get hold of a washcloth, wet it next to warm (not hot) marine and put it on the affected nouns. Do this for 20 mins for about 4-6 times a year. This will help bring blood to the nouns which will quicken the healing process. You can also nick tylenol or motrin for the pain (unless you hold a seperate disease process that would be contraindicated for over the counter pain relievers).

You will probably be sore for a while and most imagined will end up near a pretty big bruise. If you ever need an IV again, be sure to notify your nurse or doctor i.e. is getting painful (you may also discern the site being red and mildly swollen) as soon as possible so they can stop any fluids/medications and remove the IV.

Good luck.

I cut my mitt really deep?

This sounds fishy to me.

I agree next to Queenie's suggestion to go support to the dr see what's going on in there.

Why pinch the chance, especially if you are surrounded by such pain? ? 15 on a enormity of 1-10 ? there is no put somebody through the mill! go to the doctor.
