What stuffs a stuffy snout?

Why is it that when you have a stuffy antenna it's stuffy? What makes it congested and get the impression like it's closed on one side? There's zilch in in attendance when you look but no air will step through it...it's one of life's many mysteries that I can't reasonably understand...any thoughts?

The mucus glands contained by your sinus cavities are constantly creating a undernourished mucus to lubricate the tissues. This serves two purposes; to keep them from drying out, which would end in them to crack, bleed, and generally be harmful, and also to help your sense of smell. The particle in the heavens are trapped and moistened so your olfactory nerves can detect what is in your environment. Unfortunately, some of these same particle cause irritation, such as dust, pollen, and microbes. So as a defense, the mucus glands kick into overdrive to essentially coat the bring of the irritation. If it is bacteria that's cause the problem, your body sends white blood cells to scuffle it off. That's why the doc asks you what color the discharge is. If it's washed out or green, then the white blood cell are attacking an infection. If it's clear, then your body is only just coating an irritating particle approaching dust or pollen.
The reason you quality stuffy, but can't see the blockage is that the ongoing mucus thickening is up within your sinus cavities, far satisfactory not to see, but close enough to the respiratory tract to rationale obstruction. Gravity can be used to determine where on earth the mucus tends to flow. (ok, this is a bit gross, but you asked LOL) If you sleep on your side, you'll sense you're stuffier on the lower side.
If you sleep on your back, your sinuses tend to clear slightly, but watch out you don't choke on the stuff going down your throat. (OK...all together in a minute...
EEEEEWWWWWW) hehehe

To go somewhat farther, let me explain how antihistamines work to clear up the stuffiness. The receptors that convey your body to have a allergic reaction to certain particle are called histamines. The prescription blocks these receptors, which makes the body devise there isn't anything near that will cause problems, that`s why it slows down the mucus production. This works well for simple allergic reaction, but infections need to be treated by antibiotics because the microbes are multiplying, rather than a simple speck of dust that lands where on earth it isn't wanted.

I know this go a little farther than what you be asking, but I can't help it...I love sharing skill. LOL

Hope this helps!!
Blessings
