Will I be able to ride my horse again after tibial plateau fracture? I am okay past age 50, feminine?
I am 6 weeks post-op, have hardware contained by left leg, am concerned in the order of mounting horse, fear of falling and re-injuring leg.
Answer:
Why do we surface a burning sensation when we hold the ice for sometime?
Wellll..... I am an amputee, and my upper leg is held together near titanium. I ride, 'break' horses, muster, breed horses, lug hay around, barrel see, I even do horse shows.
Don't let it stop you, simply be a bit careful! None of us are as flexible as when we started riding as kids, and as we draw from older, it is a medical reality that we do not heal as vigorously as we used to. But from my point of view, if you took away my horses because I'm more at risk of injury, you might as in good health dig me a hole.
One of the answers suggested getting some support hardware for your leg, this is a upright idea, even if it merely makes you get the impression more secure. As for mounting, don't be ashamed of using a mounting block, or at the present time you can get stirrup leathers beside a gadget at the bottom which drops the stirrup down to make mounting easier, after clips back to your riding length when you're in the saddle.
Age clever... well I'm not 50 however, but the old bloke I ride near sometimes is 72 with a hip replacement. He get along fine, we just requirement to find him things to climb onto so he can mount (God bless 'im!).
Check with your doc' first to brand name sure the site has stabilized. Ease yourself rear into it slowly - just little not dangerous rides around a familiar nouns on a familiar horse, until you acquire your confidence back. Ride beside someone if you can, or a least hold someone on standby for a little while.
You might not win all of your confidence support either - I never did, nowhere in close proximity as gutsy as I used to be - but that's okay. My first ride after my amputation was a bombproof little pony! Looked funny, but I have a blast. I still had a great deal of trouble walking then, but riding wasn't too discomfited.
Self preservation is important. But so is enjoy yourself!! Just be careful, no buck-jumpers anymore, okay? ;o) Have Fun!!!!
My brother's brain injury!Please Help!?
i don't know but my counsel don't try itTalk to your doctor roughly speaking DME (durable medical equipment) for your leg. As far as how old you are, I'm not sure that's as much of a factor as your personal therapeutic time. Again your doc will know for sure. You can always try looking at a sports shop for shin guards, not sure how capably that will work.
On-going nausea-what can it be?
wher we fox hunt, there is a whipper-in in his 60's, and the second pasture master is in his 70's...so I would say-so age doesn't have much to do beside it....Ask your docor.
