I have the same problem near fentanyl peaking out at 48 instead of 72 hours. My aching management doctor first tried me a moment ago changing patch every 48 hours and prescribed accordingly. Then, we increased the dose. Then we did a smaller dose patch at the 48th hour dupe to keep the med stratum more constant in the bloodstream.
Then, I feel it was too complicated and switched to the morphine 24 contrilled release pill call Avinza and that worked for me.

They make a 100mcg patch, but if you've be on them for a long time your body can start to build up a tolerance for them. Fentanyl is a morphine derivative so if those pathces stop working there is other staright morphine in tablet form. You should talk to your doctor something like your pain situation and find out what he/she think.
actually the half-life is 36 hours. contained by other words, when you apply the patch it takes anywhere from 3-4 hours to start self absorbed into your system, it will acme on the 2nd day later start going downhill. The way you use duragesic/fentanyl is continuity. if you want consistent headache relief you own to apply the patch then adaptation it every three days, hopefully around the same time. your body have to grow a tolerance to it. You have to impart it at least 3 patch worth of trial before you know if it works. The body take time to adjust to this. Fentanyl/duragesic is a preferred method of controlling pain because it does not upset the digestive system. Until you bring back used to the "patch" you can take ibuprofen/advil/motrin provided you enjoy no allergies etc., for breakthrough pain or tylenol. if you're still not getting regular stomach-ache relief, please run into with your doctor again, they may increase the patch or grow less the duration that it is on so you get consistent backache relief. This type of patch is preferred for discomfort relief because it have the fewest side effects.
