My husband has bleak heart burn/indigestion. I suggested he drink some milk. He says milk make it worse or is bad for you when you enjoy indigestion...please help us settle this argument. It make sence to me that milk would eat the sharp and soothe the stomach and throat but he disagrees...whats the answer?

Sorry, your husband is correct. In nonspecific 'indigestion' is usually caused by an overproduction of gastric acerbic. Calcium is one of the most potent stimulators of gastric acid secretion. That is why you alway choose an antacid to be precise not calcium based (Tums are calcium base, maalox is not). The old wives yarn about drinking milk or buttermilk for dyspepsia (our term for indigestion) comes from the route milk has a penchant to coat and temporarily soothe ulcer pains. If your husband is have to take a remedy for his indigestion more than 2 or 3 times per week he should gossip to his doctor about further investigation. Hope this help.
