How long does it take for swelling to completely stir away after breaking an ankle?
I broke my ankle in October, had a issue on for 4 weeks, wore a brace for 5 weeks, and my ankle is still swollen more than a month from no longer needing the brace. This is the first time I ever broke my ankle.
Answer:
The swelling will never truly jump away as long as you continue to hoof it on it. So the amount of time for the majority of the swelling to go away depends on what you are doing for it. Have you tried doing contrast baths? That is when you put your ankle in a rime water bucket for one minute consequently you move it to a warm wet bucket for another minute. You repeat this cylce for a total of 12 ot 15 minutes making sure that you start on cold and end on cold. This process will stimulate circulation to your injured ligaments and will eat up swelling greatly. The cold will slow any further swelling and the warm next brings in new repair tissues, later the cold again will stop your body from sending too much fluid to the ankle. I hope this makes sense to you. I work next to a basketball team and to be precise what we do to help our athletes. Good luck!

few months depending on the break! mine took 3 1/2 months to completely go down, your ankle may never be alike again!I've hurt my toe- is it broken?
If your walking without crutches the pressure on the swollen ankle will help yourself to longer to heal, roughly another 2 - 3 weeks, but if your using crutches it could be anywhere from a week to 2 weeks max.2 days after ACL surgery. is this average?
You could see swelling up to 1 year after an injury. Please keep this within mind when you are walking or standing on it for long periods of time lacking the use of an ACE bandage or brace for support. Hope this help.
